First-time poster. Fancy myself to be an amateur astronomer. I live in Woodmoor. I have been watching Saturn chase Jupiter across the sky tonight, a thumb's length apart. At 2100 they were at 110°E. At 0329 they were at 210°SW, and Jupiter just set behind the Rampart Range.
Feeling philosophical—I guess because woke at 0230 and haven't been able to get back to sleep. I was contemplating Galileo Sunday. How far we have come! What does it mean nowadays to be an amateur astronomer? He drew his observations! I tried to take a photo with my LG G7. No tripod. No joy.
Cheers.
