UPDATE: The CSASTRO Outreach Team has made a decision to cancel this event due to extreme cold. The forecast for Friday 7-9 PM is Temps 6-10 degrees with wind chills down to -10F. We'll be back to dark sky observing soon!
Join us on Friday, December 16th from 7 – 8:45 PM at the Florissant Fossil Beds Visitor Center as we explore the Winter Sky.
Winter is upon us and while for some it can bring snow, it also brings crisp and dark skies (Be prepared for cooler temperatures in the Mountains!). We’ll have new celestial objects to view and share through our telescopes. Our view of the universe changes as we orbit the Sun so different times of year also bring us different stars and constellations to see and enjoy. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is a great place to see these astonishing wonders of the sky through the telescopes of Colorado Springs Astronomical Society members.
Please join us!
NOTE: As the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is a fee area, they charge a small nominal fee of $10 per person age 16 and older (but it’s worth it!).
ASTRONOMER VOLUNTEERS: The event time has been adjusted. We need to be packed up and out of visitor center area by no later than 9:15 PM.
