UPDATE: Due to forecast 80% cloud cover and 80-100% chance of rain during the event, we’ve made a decision to cancel this event. Just isn’t any chance that we’ll be able to see any of the celestial sights or watch for meteors from the meteor shower. We have scheduled another event coming up in the park on the night of the upcoming Lunar Eclipse in two weeks. I hope to see you there for that one (weather permitting of course!)?
Join Colorado Springs Astronomical Society (CSASTRO) Member Volunteers for an evening under the stars. Our volunteers will bring out their telescopes to share views of the Crescent Moon, Venus and other celestial sights. We’ll also watch for meteors streaking across the skies from the Perseid Meteor shower which is peaking just a few days before. Our events are free and open to the public but state park fees do apply.
