In collaboration with El Paso County Parks and Recreation and the Bear Creek Nature Center, CSASTRO is planning to co-host a Perseid Meteor Shower Watch Party at Homestead Ranch Regional Park on Wednesday, August 12th from 9 PM – 11 PM. This event will be open to the public and will include a short talk about the origins of the meteor shower and how best to watch for meteors. We’ll also have astronomers with telescopes set up for observing the other celestial sights. August 12th is near the peak of this meteor shower and with no Moon and in mostly dark skies we may be able to observe as many as 60 meteors an hour.
