CSASTRO Monthly Meeting at the Air Force Academy Planetarium

We are excited to invite you to our special monthly CSASTRO meeting, held at the Air Force Academy Planetarium!  Our meetings are always free and open to the public, and this month’s event will be held in person only (see details below).

Special Program:
Jeff Gonyea, the Planetarium Administrator, will serve as our Master of Ceremonies, presenting the planetarium show and enhancing the experience during key parts of our meeting.

Location & Directions:

  • Venue: Air Force Academy Planetarium
  • Directions: Take exit 156 off Interstate 25 and enter the U.S. Air Force Academy through the North Gate.
  • Important: Please do not use GPS directions, as they may lead you to the wrong location.
  • Once on base, drive straight on Academy Drive for 4 miles.
    • Turn left to park in the visitor lot for Arnold Hall.
    • The Planetarium is the building with the white dome, located north of the visitor parking.
  • Access the front door via the steps or use the ramp to the left for accessible entry.

Access Procedures:
For guests without a DoD or military ID, register for an access pass using the following QR code: Planetarium Visits (26-31 May).png

Register as soon as possible, as the USAFA requires time to complete a background check before granting access.

Meeting Details:

  • This meeting will be held in person only; there will be no virtual attendance option available.
  • Planetarium Show:
    • Lt Col Michael Plummer presenting work on brown dwarfs.
    • Lt Col Roth presenting on recent data collected at the USAFA Observatory and some astrophotography.
    • Newest film created by the US Space Force, Always Above (12 min.)
  • Along with the planetarium show, we’ll feature:
    • Our regular Observers’ Report
    • “What’s Up in the Night Sky”
    • And more
