There is a Total Eclipse of the Moon beginning at Sunset (8:02 PM) on Sunday, May 15th.

The Colorado Springs Astronomical Society and Cheyenne Mountain State Park are hosting a Lunar Eclipse Star Party at the Limekiln trailhead parking lot from 8 PM – Midnight. Observe the eclipse through our telescopes, we’ll show you how to take a picture of the Moon using your phone and one of our telescopes! And we’ll provide advice and assistance to anyone interested in using an advanced DSLR or Mirrorless camera to take pictures of the Moon transiting through Earth’s shadow.

The Mobile Earth Science Observatory (MESO) will also be there and supporting this event with many different hands-on activities for people of all ages.

UPDATE: CSASTRO MEMBERS THAT ARE SUPPORTING THIS EVENT NOTE! Please let me know via e-mail outreach@csastro.org that you will be supporting this event as I’ll provide the entrance gate personnel a list so that you do not have to pay the park pass fee. We’ll also have a sign-in sheet on site to provide to the park so they can credit the volunteer hours provided to the park.
