It’s star gazing time! Join us on Saturday, March 14, from 7:30-9:30 at the Florissant Fossil Beds Visitor Center. The night sky program begins with a 30 minute interpretive program inside the visitor center followed by 90 minutes of sky watching. Saturday’s topic is “Measuring the Dark”. Florissant Fossil Beds is a great place for stargazing because unlike the cities, our sky is DARK! But could light from Denver and Colorado Springs be starting to invade even our dark park? We need your help to find out! Join us for a citizen science project, counting the stars in Orion to measure light pollution in the park, and learn how you can measure your own skies at home. Views in the telescopes include several star clusters, nebulae, Venus, Jupiter, and more.
