Club Members! Join the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society at Starry Meadows on Saturday, August 11th, 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM (Midnight) for a weekend of observing in dark skies.
The Perseid meteor shower, is one of the brighter meteor showers of the year and tends to peak around August 9-13 so it should be a great weekend to see one of the best meteor showers of the year.
We are also just days past Mars making it’s closet pass since 2003 which was then the closest approach in nearly 6,000 years.
Not a club member? Then it’s a good time to sign up and join us! Don’t have a telescope? No worries! Meteor showers are best viewed without telescopes of any kind and we’ll have plenty of telescopes and friendly club members that will be happy to share their views of the night skies.
